Brandon Hall
Owner + Trainer
Howdy! My name is Brandon.
Before opening Decent Shape, I worked as Director of Content for STACK, a fitness media company. It was a cool job - I got to collaborate with many of the world’s best trainers and see how elite athletes took care of their bodies.
Being a former college athlete myself, I was interested in staying strong, capable, athletic, and injury-free for as long as possible (while also still being able to eat an entire bag of trail mix once in a while).
I became an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist in 2019 and started training clients shortly thereafter. I found I loved helping good people overcome self-limiting beliefs to do amazing things. I also found most gyms kinda sucked - particularly for people new to strength training.
I opened Decent Shape right at the end of 2021. We spent three years at our first location across from St. Ed's, and moved to our beautiful new space at the corner of Summit and Detroit Ave. just prior to 2025. Decent Shape’s mission is to provide inclusive training experiences that 1. enhance your physical fitness and well-being, and 2. improve your mental health and foster positive human connections.
My interests outside of training include comedy podcasts (Doughboys and Uhh Yeah Dude), urban planning, feeding the studio roomba, and aimless walks in nature. I also like to go on Google Flights and fantasize about trips to new places.
If we haven’t met yet, I hope we do soon!

Sarah Stafford
Personal Trainer + Small Group Specialist
Hi there! My name is Sarah, and I'm a trainer at Decent Shape.
I've got my Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science and I've been personal training for over 10 years. I played sports (figure skating, softball and soccer) through college, where I was able to have a completely injury-free career. I owe it all to my training routine and the mentors I learned from.
In my 10+ years of training, I've worked with people from all walks of life; from general population to nationally ranked athletes and teams, and from youth athletes to people with hip/knee replacements and spinal fusions.
No matter where you are, I'll meet you there! With my experience and education, I like to take a science-based approach to functional fitness. I personalize each session to YOU and make training functional for YOUR life. The goal really is to live life with as few aches and pains as possible, right? 💪
Outside the gym you can catch me rollerblading 🛼 or ice skating ⛸️ (depends on the season), or on a walk with my pup Chyna!

Darcy Lane
Women-Focused Personal Trainer
Hello! I'm Darcy - a Personal Trainer, Mother of 1, and Lover of Nature☀️🌻
My fitness journey started with Zumba classes. I loved it because it was fun and it didn’t feel like working out, and I love to dance. I got hooked and later became an instructor in 2013.
In 2015, I took my first indoor cycling class, and fell in love again with a new aspect of fitness.
But when I begin dealing with knee pain during those classes, I started to think something may be missing in my routine. I decided to try a strength training class and after just two sessions, that knee pain disappeared. I finally realized what was missing from my fitness journey. Once again, I was hooked!
In 2019, I became a certified personal trainer through ACE.
Today, my mission is simple: to help women discover their inner strength — both physical and mental. Whether you’re 25 or 75, your body is capable of extraordinary things. I’m here to show you how to safely push your limits and celebrate every victory along the way. It won’t be easy but it will be worth it! 🙂
